Jude Bellingham Expected To Leave Real Madrid In An Unexpected Deal

Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight thinks Jude Bellingham could return to Birmingham City in 2031.

The England international departed his boyhood club to join Borussia Dortmund for a cost of €30.2 million in 2020, and the Blues retired his No.22 shirt number in order “to remember one of our own and inspire others.”

Bellingham made 44 first-team appearances after breaking into the senior squad at Birmingham, scoring four goals and contributing two assists, and the Real Madrid star is now regarded as one of the best players in the world.

The 23-year-old has been a vital part of Los Blancos since his arrival ahead of the 2023-24 season, but speculations of a return to England have surfaced, with Chelsea and Manchester United among the clubs expected to chase a deal if it becomes available.

However, Knight, a lifelong Birmingham supporter and executive producer of ‘Built in Birmingham: Brady and the Blues’, believes Bellingham will return to St Andrew’s in five years.

Jude Bellingham to return to Birmingham?

Speaking to The Telegraph ahead of the release of ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’ on Netflix, Knight stated, “I want him to come back [to play for Birmingham] one day.”

“Twenty-eight. I’m guessing I’ll be 28 [years old] when I return. Why not? I do not know. I mean, who knows. Who knows what he’s going to do, but if we improve, I believe he’ll return.”

Birmingham gained promotion from the League. They returned to the Championship last season and are presently tenth in the second tier of English football, having earned 53 points from their first 38 games.

However, their play-off ambitions have faded, with only one win in their previous five games, and a return to the Premier League would most certainly have to wait until next year at the earliest.
