Barcelona keeping Tabs On Soon-To-Be-Free Bundesliga Attacking Midfielder

There are still a few months until the next summer transfer window begins, but FC Barcelona is already being associated with players from around the world.

The Blaugrana are expected to prioritize a new center-back and a center-forward, as well as the permanent signing of Marcus Rashford.

However, the Catalans are constantly on the hunt for market chances to strengthen their squad.

Julian Brandt on Barcelona’s radar

According to Patrick Berger of Sky Germany, Barcelona and Arsenal have expressed interest in Julian Brandt’s status, as he will be a free agent this summer.

The 29-year-old German international’s contract with the Bundesliga club expires on June 30, and he has officially declared he will not renew it. It implies he will be able to sign with any club without paying a transfer fee.

Brandt has been at Dortmund for seven years and made over 300 appearances since signing from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019. He has decided it is time for a new challenge.

In January, the offensive midfielder received two Premier League bids but chose to continue with the Black and Yellows until the end of his contract.

He is now on the radar of Barcelona and Arsenal for a potential summer free transfer, with a move to Italy also being considered.

Brandt has made 32 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring ten goals and assisting nine times.

While enticing, a move to Barcelona in the summer is doubtful, given that the Catalans currently have two talented No. 10s in Fermin Lopez and Dani Olmo. Gavi would also be an option once he recovers from injury.

As a result, Brandt does not look to be able to fit into the Catalan club’s roster.
