“I Felt Betrayed” – Xavi Reveals Truth Behind Barcelona Exit and Laporta Clash

Xavi claimed he had personally spoken with Messi about a comeback after the Argentine won the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

According to the Spanish coach, Messi was excited about returning and discussions reportedly continued for several months.

Xavi believes the deal had received approval from La Liga, but the club president ultimately blocked the move.

The Barcelona legend alleged Laporta feared Messi’s influence at the club could create a power struggle behind the scenes.

Following the breakdown in relations, Xavi stated he has no intention of returning to Barcelona in the future.

Laporta Responds to Xavi’s Accusations

Laporta quickly rejected Xavi’s claims and insisted the situation surrounding Messi’s potential return was misunderstood.

The Barcelona president said Messi’s father Jorge Messi eventually decided the pressure of returning to the club was too great.

Instead, the Argentine superstar later joined Inter Miami CF in Major League Soccer, reports Daily Mail.

Laporta also suggested Xavi’s criticism may be linked to the success of current Barcelona manager Hansi Flick.

Flick has reportedly achieved stronger results using a similar group of players following Xavi’s departure.

The president further claimed that rival presidential candidate Victor Font may be using Xavi’s comments to influence Barcelona’s upcoming elections.

The dispute highlights ongoing tensions within Barcelona’s leadership ahead of a crucial presidential vote.
