Alongside Ibrahimovic, Haaland acknowledged Premier League stars who influenced his tactical development, notably Robin van Persie and surprisingly, Jamie Vardy, whose clever runs and finishing he studied closely.

Premier League and Global Legends Shaping Haaland

Haaland credits these players for teaching him nuances in movement, positioning, and goal-scoring instincts.

He also drew inspiration from Sergio Agüero, observing his dominance at Manchester City, and Thierry Henry for technical refinements in finishing.

He described his approach as blending lessons from multiple strikers while maintaining his own style:

“You take small things from some of the goals they scored, and you then kind of go your own way,” Haaland explained.

Despite his record-breaking statistics, Haaland emphasizes simplicity and joy in football.

He believes overcomplicating the striker role is unnecessary and focuses on fundamentals: timing, movement, and finishing, reports GOAL.

Working under Pep Guardiola has further honed his mentality, instilling discipline while maintaining his love for the game.

Haaland said: “The motivation always has to be within myself… I’m actually living the dream of so many hundreds of millions of people… it’s about continuing, staying fit, and pushing myself and others around me to get better.”

His reflections underline that even a modern football phenomenon sees himself as a student of the game, building on the legacy of the greats who inspired him.
