Barcelona superstar, Lamine Yamal has reportedly been informed that he made a mistake by opting to play international football for Spain instead of Morocco.
Despite having the option to play for both countries, the teenage star chose La Roja, and the team had already won a European Championship.
However, Morocco icon Mustapha Hadji believes that Yamal would have experienced greater affection from the Atlas Lions fans if he had chosen Morocco instead of Spain.

“Even if he plays for Spain, the affection the Spanish will have for him will never be the same as that of the Moroccans,” he said, as quoted by Barca Blaugranes.

Yamal spoke recently about his decision in an interview with CBS’s 60 Minutes. He said that he “had always wanted to play a European Championship” – something he could not do with Morocco and added that “Spain was playing the Euros, I grew up here, and I feel this is my country.”
