Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder, Carlos Baleba may be one step closer to joining Manchester United.
The Athletic revealed in August that the Red Devils had reached out to the Seagulls through intermediaries about the 21-year-old after exploring a deal in the summer.
Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Senne Lammens all signed huge deals at Old Trafford during the summer.
The Red Devils kept their gun dry given the money already spent and the club’s assessment of Baleba, but Brighton’s most recent move might make them more amenable to negotiations in the upcoming window.

Brighton Identify Baleba Replacement
Caleb Yirenkyi, a midfielder for FC Nordsjaelland, is being considered by Brighton, according to a report from Fussball Transfers as reported by FourFourTwo.
The Right to Dream system, which owns the Danish club and have a base in Ghana, developed the Ghana international.
According to the source, the 19-year-old is being examined as a replacement for Baleba and is said to be available for €15–€20 million.
The Seagulls might be more willing to let Baleba go if they have a backup plan in place. This would prevent them from setting his price too high, as they are able to do with a contract that runs until 2028 with a potential extra year.
But Brighton might have to act fast because, according to the Daily Mail, Bournemouth and Arsenal are also pursuing Yirenkyi.
Transfermarkt values Yirenkyi at €6 million.
