Liverpool And West Ham United Interested In Signing Charlie Cresswell From Toulouse

Charlie Cresswell, Toulouse’s centre back, has been improving at an impressive rate since joining the Ligue 1 club from Leeds United in 2024. Just a year and a half into his time in France, he is already being linked with a return to England.

According to Hammers News, Liverpool and West Ham United are expected to compete for Cresswell’s signature next year, while Newcastle United is also interested in the 23-year-old.

He is assessed at £13 million on Transfermarkt, although given his importance to Toulouse’s starting eleven, he could be worth more. The defender has made 16 appearances in Ligue 1 this season, scoring three goals and providing an assist.

PL swoop is a matter of time.

Charlie Cresswell’s return to the Premier League appears imminent. All of his interested parties have the wherewithal to bring him from Ligue 1 to the Premier League, where he will receive less publicity and a lower income.

Liverpool will view him as a young investment. With Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk not performing to their full potential in the last two or three months, the board may contemplate turning to youthful talent with a longer-term perspective in squad planning.

Arne Slot’s team is in need of a few young central defenders, so Cresswell may be a fine signing for them, however the prospect of missing out on regular game time at Anfield may drive him to explore other options.

Cresswell has played every minute for Toulouse in Ligue 1 this season, therefore he might move to a mid-table club like Newcastle United or West Ham United to further his growth and progression before joining a top-tier club.
