Bayern Munich’s head coach is aware that Lennart Karl is not having a regular day. The wonderkid’s incredible performance for one of Europe’s finest teams has taken care of that. But Kompany is certain that the adolescent will make the move to full professional.
“When you score so many goals at 17, not everything is normal,” Kompany said ahead of Bayern’s game against Mainz 05 on Sunday (as caught by @iMiaSanMia). “His mental and physical growth are currently normal. He became exhausted at times, but that’s to be expected when you play every three days. In the future, he will be a player who can withstand a heavy workload; I feel he has the profile for it.”

Karl scored another goal — this time a tap-in, but it counts just as much as his worldies — in Bayern’s 2-2 draw with Mainz, taking his total to six goals and two assists in all competitions. His debut in top-level professional football has been one of the most memorable in recent memory, at least for Bayern.
