Fabrizio Romano Delivers Fresh Update On Xabi Alonso Amid Liverpool Links

Fabrizio Romano has dismissed rumours of an imminent Liverpool move for Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso, insisting the Spanish manager is fully focused on rescuing his situation in La Liga.

Alonso has been under pressure at Real after winning just two of his last seven games, sparking speculation that Liverpool could turn to their former midfielder if Arne Slot’s struggles continue.

The Real Madrid manager was asked this week about links to a Liverpool return and spoke warmly about his bond with the club. That fuelled excitement among fans dreaming of a sensational reunion.

But Romano has now clarified that Alonso’s comments were not a hint about a near-term move, reports Give Me Sport.

According to the transfer insider, Liverpool have made “absolutely no contact” with Alonso’s camp, and the 44-year-old is not discussing any switch at this moment.

Romano: Alonso’s Liverpool comments refer to the distant future

Romano explained that Alonso’s remarks referred to “the next years”, not an immediate exit. The Spanish tactician remains committed to turning things around at Real Madrid and is not engaged in any talks with Liverpool.

Romano labelled current stories linking him with Anfield as “speculations” with no concrete developments behind them.

Alonso spent five memorable years at Liverpool as a player, winning the Champions League in 2005, before entering management and achieving major success at Bayer Leverkusen.

However, his future at Real Madrid may hinge on the upcoming Champions League clash with Manchester City.

Reports in Spain claim a negative result could put his job at risk, with tensions in the dressing room and disagreements with key stars such as Vinicius Jr. adding to the pressure.
