Marc Cucurella could have joined a rival team in the Premier League before moving to Chelsea.
The Spanish defender agreed to a six-year deal with the Blues in August 2022.
His arrival occurred after a deal worth over £60million was completed with Brighton by the west London club.
Since then, Cucurella has made 132 appearances for Chelsea, contributing 11 assists and eight goals as a left-back.

He has also lifted both the Conference League and Club World Cup under Enzo Maresca this year.
However, the 27-year-old has claimed he could have been wearing a different shade of blue entirely.
According to talkSPORT, Cucurella was also a target for Manchester City before to finalizing his deal to Stamford Bridge.
Even though Pep Guardiola had offered his countryman to join City, the club and Brighton were unable to come to an agreement.
