Man United Outline January Transfer Plan As Wharton Agreement Reached

Manchester United are reportedly waiting for the January transfer window to open before launching a move for Crystal Palace midfield maestro, Adam Wharton.

The 21-year-old has plenty of quality going ahead, according to two United legends.

Over the summer, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko joined Old Trafford, giving Ruben Amorim some new attacking resources to work with. His midfield will be strengthened next, according to recent reports.

According to The Mirror, Palace star Wharton is highly regarded by United, who have a lengthy list of midfield talent they want to acquire.

It is believed that any strategy will have to wait until summer, even as Rio Ferdinand and Roy Keane both concur that one facet of his game is game-changing.

Wharton has swiftly and smoothly developed into one of the best young midfield players in the Premier League after joining Selhurst Park in January 2024 for £18.5 million from Blackburn Rovers.

He is typically used as a deep-lying playmaker, and United legends Keane and Ferdinand have commended him for his defensive engine, high IQ, and wide passing range.

Wharton, who started the most recent 2-0 victory over Albania, is already in the running for England caps.

Roy Keane Heaps Praise On Wharton

Keane identified what he believes to be the young player’s best trait throughout this match.

“I do like Adam Wharton,” said Keane after the win. “A lot of the modern midfielders, their first option seems to be, ‘Can I go sideways or backwards?’

“What I like about him, the first option he seems to look at it is, ‘Can I pass it forward?’ and that’s a big strength to have. This is where he can mature over the next year or two if he’s playing at the top level.”
