Mikel Merino return as a striker for Arsenal in the Champions League, and he was among the goals once more.
The Gunners faced Slavia Prague in a difficult match, and several changes were required for the team as a whole.
One of those was up front, as Mikel Arteta currently has few striker alternatives due to Viktor Gyokeres’ injury.
Merino was consequently used as the center forward once more, and he contributed to Arsenal’s triumph over Slavia.

Merino’s role as a striker is no longer novel since he started playing in the position in the second half of the previous season.
The Spaniard was unexpectedly efficient and his athleticism kept him in the game at all times.
It was time for Merino to return as the striker after a string of unlucky injuries at Arsenal, and he did so admirably with two goals.
His teammates gave him a lot of credit for the brace, which helped the Gunners earn three extra points in the Champions League.
According to TBR Football, taking to social media, Merino posted an image with the caption: “Champions League nights.”
Gabriel Martinelli responded straight away by saying: “R9,” likening him to the legendary Brazilian striker Ronaldo Nazario.
Praise continued to pour in, with David Raya saying: “Merigol.”
Declan Rice also said: “What a guy.”
Whether Merino plays in his regular position or not, it’s obvious that the Arsenal players are thrilled with his contribution and what he provides to the squad.
