Arsenal are reportedly considering the idea of expanding the Emirates stadium in the vein of Real Madrid in an effort to increase their revenue.
When the Emirates opened in 2006, it had a capacity of 60,704 and was the second-largest stadium in the Premier League, after Old Trafford.
It has fallen behind Anfield, the London Stadium, and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the twenty years that have passed.
According to The Telegraph, Arsenal officials are considering ways to change the stand gradient in an effort to increase the stadium’s capacity to over 70,000, making the Emirates the largest club stadium in London.

The report claims that Arsenal have researched Real Madrid’s expansion of the Santiago Bernabeu.
To update the club’s historic home, the stadium underwent a five-year, £860 million reconstruction.
The stadium can now accommodate 83,186 people thanks to the addition of about 4,000 seats. It also has a retractable roof, a 360-degree screen, and a retractable pitch for non-football activities.
After the renovations were finished, Real Madrid announced earlier this year that their matchday income had doubled to €248 million (£215 million).
Given the club’s matchday revenue for the 2023–24 season was £131.7 million, Arsenal would be looking for a comparable increase.
This represented a rise from £102.6 million the season before, which was ascribed to their return to the Champions League.
According to reports, Arsenal may need to temporarily relocate as a result of renovations being made to the Emirates.
The Telegraph said that the Gunners might choose to play at Wembley while construction is underway.
