Real Madrid took a two-point lead over rivals Barcelona in La Liga this weekend, but there is still a long way to go until the 2025/26 title is decided.
Barcelona won La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup last season. However, they were defeated in the Champions League semi-finals by Italian club Inter Milan in extra time.
Toni Kroos, a former Los Blancos midfielder, has remarked about the Catalans’ style of play under fellow countryman Hansi Flick. The previous player warned them about the prospect of elimination in Europe under Flick.

According to ‘El Chiringuito’ (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Kroos is concerned that Barcelona will win the competition outright. He cited Inter Milan’s semi-final loss last season, when, despite being the stronger aggressive club, they were defeated in a high-scoring match.

“Barcelona possesses one of the most appealing styles of play in Europe… the most attractive in Europe. However, they take so many risks that, on a bad day for Pedri, Lamine Yamal, or Raphinha, any team may harm them and knock them out of the Champions League.”
“It already happened to them last year with Inter Milan (in the Champions League semi-finals) and this year, whether in the round of 16, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals or the final, at some point they will come up against an opponent like that.”
The Germans do not consider it a problem in La Liga, but rather in the Champions League against Europe’s finest. Barcelona has already dropped points in two league games this season, drawing one and losing 4-1 to Sevilla.
