Cole Palmer Calls Out Chelsea Teammates In Interview After Bayern Loss

Cole Palmer criticized his Chelsea teammates in an open interview following the club’s Champions League loss to Bayern Munich.

The Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup champions began their new season in Europe’s premier club competition with a 3-1 loss away at the Allianz Arena.

Chelsea’s first Champions League match since 2023 saw them fall behind 2-0 after Trevoh Chalobah scored an own goal and Harry Kane added a penalty.

Palmer equalized with a beautiful goal after a sweeping Chelsea move minutes later, but England teammate Kane added a second in the second half off a Malo Gusto error to secure a comfortable victory for Vincent Kompany’s side.

Palmer told TNT Sports: “Yeah [frustrating].” I think we deserved more. We started well and had early opportunities, but making mistakes at the greatest level is difficult.

“There was a lack of concentration, and the occasions were not managed correctly.

“We demonstrated that we can play against one of the greatest teams in the competition. We deserved more, to be honest. The manager told us before we go toe-to-toe, and I believe it showed tonight, despite the outcome.

“It’s a good learning curve, and getting back into the competition is fantastic. I’m not even sure what happened in the second half. We are not come here as a learning curve. We proved that we want to compete.

He had been suffering from a groin ailment, which kept him out of England’s World Cup qualifiers throughout the international break and pulled him out of the starting lineup against West Ham.

According to Football London, he said: “Cole, I believe he’s well. I asked him after the game, and he replied he was fine.”
