In a twinkle of an eye, the third gameweek of the 2025/26 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season has come to a conclusion.
While some managers are extremely glad of their rankings, some are disappointed in the position they currently are. Well, that is the essence of a competition and what will stand you out is the ability to keep going and trusting the decisions you make.
Enough of our motivational talks because last last, a manager will still be at the end of the rankings, LOL! Let’s dive into how the gameweek unfolded.
Chelsea opened the floor with a 2-0 win over Fulham in the lunchtime kick-off.

The absence of Cole Palmer in the second game running have little to no impact on the Blues’ rhythm as Joao Pedro once again recorded an attacking return to claim 9 points ultimately continuing his imperious form after a 15-point haul against West Ham United last time out.
It was a game of the first at Old Trafford where Manchester United defeated newly promoted Burnley to claim their first win of the season after suffering a shocking defeat to fourth division side, Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.
Bryan Mbeumo netted his first league goal for the Red Devils, with Bruno Fernandes also recording his first return of the campaign.
Dominik Szoboszlai’s stunning 32-yard freekick was the major highlight in Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Arsenal as the Reds recorded their first clean sheet giving managers who were patient enough to still have the Premier League champions’ defensive assets in their teams something to cheer about.
High-flyers, Tottenham Hotspur received one of the greatest shocks following their 1-0 loss at home to Bournemouth, who were dogged in defence throughout the encounter.
Antoine Semenyo, who was the most transferred-in asset with over 1.2 million new owners ahead of the GW3 transfer deadline was not the one on the scoresheet, neither was he the provider.
And this begs us to ask the same question we posed sometime last season; Is the most transferred-in curse real?
Well, taking a look at what unfolded last term, majority of the assets who were brought in the most ahead of a deadline went on to record a blank. And this campaign seems to continue the trend.

Manchester City midfielder, Tijjani Reijnders was the most transferred-in player in GW2 and he returned a blank to his new and existing owners following a 10-point haul against Wolves in the first gameweek of the season.
All eyes will now be on the next most transferred-in asset. With the international break taking over, which means a pause to the FPL, we do hope there will also be a break in the ‘curse’ and the next most brought in player will prove a point and make us take a second look at the trend.
