Tottenham ‘In Talks’ Over Late Move To Sign Atalanta Forward Ademola Lookman

Tottenham Hotspur are ‘in discussions’ to make a deadline-day move for Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman, according to TBR Football.

Spurs have undergone a spectacular renovation this summer, adding tactically sound reinforcements to suit Thomas Frank’s style of play. Mohammed Kudus has already joined the assault, and Mathys Tel’s move from Bayern Munich has been made permanent. Xavi Simons also joined the Lilywhites after the team rushed in late to sign him from Chelsea.

The team is not finished yet; they are looking for more front-line reinforcements, and Lookman has emerged as their top target as the transfer window closes at 7 p.m. tonight.

According to TBR Football, Tottenham are ‘in talks’ about a late swoop to bring the Nigerian international to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on a permanent basis.

Although Spurs have considered numerous left-wing alternatives, including Manchester City’s Savinho and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, Lookman has emerged as the club’s ‘preferred choice’, and there is hope that a deal will be completed before the deadline, according to the article.

Late swoop

Spurs appear to be stepping up their efforts to sign the Nigerian, with the source stating that the club is ‘focused’ on completing a late deal to get him before the transfer window ends.

While the source indicates that Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich are showing strong interest, Lookman is reportedly preparing to fly to London ahead of a probable move to Tottenham as he tries to determine his future soon.

Lookman has a good record with Atalanta, having scored 52 goals and provided 25 assists in 118 Serie A matches.

Although he has recently been played in a more center advanced position for Atalanta, Simons’ arrival would most likely see him operating out wide if he completes his move to north London.

After reportedly rejecting a £36 million bid from Inter Milan, Atalanta will most likely want a sum closer to his Transfermarkt valuation of £51 million to secure his departure from the Gewiss Stadium.
