Alexander Isak Move To Liverpool Hopes Grow As Newcastle Seal £69m Deal

Newcastle United have agreed a club-record £69million move for Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade, potentially opening the door for Alexander Isak to join Liverpool.

Woltemade, who netted 17 goals last season and finished as top scorer at the Under-21 European Championship, arrived on Tyneside on Thursday evening.

The 23-year-old is expected to complete his medical swiftly, with Eddie Howe hopeful of registering him in time to face Leeds United this weekend.

His signing ends Newcastle’s long summer search for a new forward, with several failed pursuits of Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Benjamin Sesko.

Earlier in the window, Bayern Munich had been favourites for Woltemade, but Newcastle’s financial power allowed them to beat the German champions to his signature.

What It Means for Isak’s Future

Isak has pushed for a Liverpool move and even went on strike to force Newcastle’s hand earlier this summer.

The Reds had a £110million bid rejected on August 1, but Woltemade’s arrival could tempt them to return with an improved offer.

Newcastle, however, want at least two new strikers before considering Isak’s departure, with Yoane Wissa and Jorgen Strand Larsen also on their shortlist.

Brentford are open to selling Wissa, though they demand £50million, while Wolves remain firm on their stance regarding Larsen, reports Newcastle World.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Isak is alive once again. Newcastle’s £69m breakthrough may yet trigger one of the window’s biggest late moves.
