Despite having an excellent attacking line in the 2024-25 season, FC Barcelona bolstered their attack even more this summer by adding Manchester United sensation Marcus Rashford on loan.
The Englishman arrives to add depth to Hansi Flick’s attack, and if all goes as planned, he may even get a starting spot. His versatility, which allows him to play both on the wing and in the center of the attack, could help him get more minutes this season.
However, the Catalans will need to add another attacker to their squad in the coming years, as Robert Lewandowski is already approaching 37 years of age and does not have many years left to play at the top level.
Barcelona looking for Lewandowski’s replacement
In this regard, Fichajes adds that Hansi Flick has already asked Barcelona to sign a top-level striker to replace the Pole next summer, and the Blaugrana Sporting Department is now considering three names: Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, and Julian Alvarez.

Both Isak and Alvarez are emerging as the top possibilities for this position, as they meet the German coach’s criteria for a centre-forward, including good movement, goal scoring, and space reading. Furthermore, both of these players are incredibly adaptable and have strong link-up skills, which are two other crucial factors for Flick.
Each of these players will cost a minimum of €90 million. Although such a price would have been prohibitively expensive for Barcelona in recent years, they are making good financial progress and may be able to pay such a large sum for these players in the summer of 2026.
Joan Laporta’s dream, however, is to bring the Norwegian Erling Haaland to Barcelona, which would be more difficult to sign due to his high salary and release clause.
Still, he could leave Manchester City if the English team does not improve its performance next season, and the Catalans are attempting to entice him with the promise of a hugely ambitious project directed by Lamine Yamal and Pedri, among others.
Barcelona would not begin negotiations to sign the world-class striker until 2026. However, it appears that they have already began the search for Robert Lewandowski’s successor.
