Marcus Rashford will become just the second Englishman to represent Barcelona this century, following in the footsteps of Marcus McGuane after completing his dream transfer to the Spanish powerhouses.
Prior to his official introduction on Wednesday, Rashford met up with Barcelona’s sporting director Deco and manager Hansi Flick at the team’s Ciutat Esportiva training facility on Monday after arriving in Catalonia on Sunday evening.
Rashford, who will be wearing the number 14 shirt in the upcoming months, has joined on a season-long loan from Manchester United with a reported €35 million (approximately £30.3 million) buyout option.

As previously stated, the 27-year-old will become the second Englishman to play for the Catalan squad this century, seven years after McGuane made his Barcelona first-team debut.
According to Sport Bible, after joining Barcelona from Arsenal in 2018, McGuane became the first Englishman to play for Barcelona since Gary Lineker 29 years ago when he entered as a substitute during their Catalan Super Cup match against Espanyol in March 2018.
McGuane recently acknowledged that he was “not mentally ready” to deal with a transfer to Barcelona at such a young age. He was 19 when he made the move to Spain.
Before leaving Spain to join Nottingham Forest, who were in the Championship at the time, the midfield player made 24 appearances for Barcelona B, including a stint on loan at Telstar in the Eerste Divisie.
McGuane had trouble finding opportunities at Forest, just like during his time in Spain. The midfielder joined Oxford United on a season-long loan in the summer of 2020, making 21 appearances before signing a permanent contract.
