Liverpool has created a new section to their website in memory of Diogo Jota, who died unexpectedly.
Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, were killed in an early-morning automobile accident in northern Spain on July 3.
The 28-year-old forward recently married his childhood girlfriend in a ceremony in his native Portugal, capping up a season that included trophy wins for both club and country.
Following the tragedy, Liverpool confirmed that Jota’s No. 20 would be retired immediately at all levels, following discussions with his widow and family.
Since then, the club has extended the tribute on their official site.
In a part of the website displaying the men’s first-team squad by position, a link to Jota’s profile has been immortalized under the subheading ‘forever’.

Jota’s page now includes an homage to the forward, which concludes with the remark, ‘He will always be our number 20.’
In his first interview following Jota’s death, Reds manager Arne Slot emphasized that retiring Jota’s number was the minimum the club could do.
‘We will always carry him with us in our hearts, thoughts, and wherever we go,’ Slot told Liverpool’s official website.
‘Maybe especially in difficult situations because of what I just said. But he will be with us in our minds and emotions at all times.
“We could, should, and did retire his shirt.”
A mural dedicated to Jota has also recently been created near Anfield.
Artist John Culshaw created the artwork, which depicts Jota smiling and placing his hands together to form a heart.
Liverpool returned to action on Sunday for the first time since Jota’s heartbreaking death.
