Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has reported an alleged instance of racial abuse directed at defender Antonio Rudiger during their Club World Cup victory over Mexico’s Pachuca. Alonso stated that a formal complaint had been filed following a disagreement between Rudiger and Pachuca skipper Gustavo Cabral during added time. It’s unclear whether the claimed abuse came from a player or someone in the crowd.
“That’s what Rudiger said, and we believe him,” Alonso stated following Real Madrid’s 3-1 victory in Charlotte. “It is critical to have zero tolerance in these instances. FIFA is now investigating. “That’s all I can say.” Although FIFA has yet to publish a statement on the subject, referee Ramon Abatti signaled the application of the anti-racism protocol by crossing his arms across his chest throughout the game.
Despite suffering hardship with Raul Asencio’s early exit from the field, Real Madrid maintained their lead in Group H.
Asencio was sent off barely seven minutes into the game for fouling Salomon Rondon, complicating Alonso’s situation, especially with star attacker Kylian Mbappe out due to sickness.
Later, Federico Valverde’s volley increased Real’s lead until Elias Montiel provided a consolation goal for the Mexicans.
Real Madrid claimed their first victory of the competition, tying with Red Bull Salzburg on four points following Salzburg’s goalless draw with Al Hilal in Washington DC.

Real will face Salzburg in their final encounter of the first stage on Thursday night (2am Friday UK), but with Al Hilal trailing by only two points, the group is still wide open.
Kenan Yildiz was the star of the show as Juventus moved from Group G with a 4-1 victory over Wydad Casablanca.
