Despite bringing United to the Europa League final, Amorim said that if the team’s domestic issues persist after Sunday’s home loss to West Ham dropped them to 16th position in the standings, he may retire next season.
However, Amorim maintains that he has told the board how he expects to solve the concerns this summer as United prepare to undertake another reconstruction.
‘I talk with the board, with everybody and even with the fans in every moment,’ he said. ‘
I have a clear feeling that I know what this team needs to be so much better, and that has helped me to maintain that level of not go down so much and not so high in some moments.’
After the West Ham match, Amorim reiterated his remarks, calling United’s Premier League performance “embarrassing” and “unacceptable,” reports Mail Online.
‘It’s hard to find another word. I’m really embarrassed that in 25 games we’ve won six,’ he added.
‘Something is wrong in the way we are playing football, and sometimes it is not about the way we play tactically and technically.
