Chelsea Make Decision To Give Liverpool Guard Of Honour Following Premier League Title Win

Chelsea have reportedly confirmed their decision to give Liverpool a guard of honour after the Reds’ Premier League title victory was confirmed following their 5-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur.

With four games remaining, Arne Slot’s side won the league title, and in keeping with Premier League tradition, the opposition team cheer the new winners before each of their remaining games.

On Sunday, Liverpool will visit Stamford Bridge before hosting Arsenal at Anfield. Prior to playing Crystal Palace on the last day of the season, the Reds go to Brighton for their penultimate match.

According to The Evening Standard, Enzo Maresca, the manager of the Blues, was asked on Thursday if his club would honor the Reds with a guard of honor as they continue to celebrate winning their 20th league title.

Maresca told reporters: “Yes. It’s tradition. We have to do that, and we are going to do that. They won the Premier League, so. they deserve it.”

He added: “It’s always nice to play in this kind of game, but I don’t think [Liverpool] will be any different or relaxed because they have already won the title.

“They are a very good team and deserved to win the Premier League this season. The gap is there, you can see clearly. My feeling is we are in the right direction and hopefully this gap can be smaller and closer next season.”
