Arteta Reveals Arsenal Star Might Play In Different Position Against PSG

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has reportedly admitted to Myles Lewis-Skelly’s ability to play in multiple positions and revealed the youngster could be deployed in a different position against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Gunners are set to clash with PSG in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League, which is going to commence next week.

In his news conference prior to the league match against Crystal Palace, Arteta made some intriguing remarks on Lewis-Skelly.

Additionally, Arteta was expressly asked if the 18-year-old might drop out of left-back to take Thomas Partey’s spot in midfield, given the 31-year-old’s suspension against PSG.

Lewis-Skelly played primarily in midfield as he advanced through the Hale End Academy. According to TBR Football, Arteta appeared certain that he would have no issue playing in that position ahead of the tie.

Replying to the question, Arteta said: “Yeah, he can play as an eight, he can play as a six. He’s played there before many times and he has the qualities to do that.”

Additionally, Arteta was asked if he could see Lewis-Skelly as a left-back for the remainder of his career just before he was asked if he could replace Partey outright.

The Arsenal manager responded: “I wouldn’t go that far. I think for now, and what he’s providing to the team and the needs that we have and the role that we have as a full-back, probably yes.

“But he stepped in midfield the other day and he looked very, very comfortable. He’s played his whole career and he’s good.

“Another player that can play different positions at the highest level. So, very good news.”
